In one of the most brutal displays of power hitting in IPL 2026, Marcus Stoinis produced a stunning inning of 62* from just 22 balls to propel Punjab Kings to a huge 222/4 over Rajasthan Royals in Mullanpur. Stoinis turned the tide in favor of PBKS with a scintillating late-order assault, leaving the Rajasthan bowlers at their wit's end.
When Stoinis walked in to bat in the 14th over with the scoreboard reading 144/3, the team was still in search of some impetus with skipper Shreyas Iyer struggling for fluency. Stoinis assumed control of the innings from that point onward, ensuring a grand finish.
Marcus Stoinis Changes the Game
Though he was cautious at the start of his inning, Stoinis quickly found his tempo. His attack was initiated by a monstrous shot over cover off Yash Raj Punja, and he soon continued to pepper the boundary with a series of powerful shots. Having gotten his eye in, Stoinis effortlessly started to punish the bowlers all over the ground.
He picked up a boundary and a six off Nandre Burger, and there was no looking back for the Australian after that. During the last two overs, Stoinis unleashed a flurry of sixes (4) and boundaries (3) to completely demoralize the Rajasthan bowling attack. He completed his half-century in just 20 balls, which happened to be the fastest of his IPL career.
The final over was where Stoinis truly exploded, clobbering Brijesh Sharma for 24 runs including three sixes. The clean hitting and the raw power behind Stoinis's strokes did not go unnoticed by the fans, who labeled the innings as one of the greatest finishing acts in IPL history.
