The Indian men’s table tennis team started their campaign at the 2026 ITTF World Team Championships with a 3-0 win over Tunisia in London on Tuesday.
The Gujarat trio of Manav Thakkar, Manush Shah, and Harmeet Desai all won their respective singles matches in their Group 7 clash in Stage 1B.
Shah was the only Indian to drop a game in the contest, beating Essid Wasim 3-1.
Thakkar and Desai, meanwhile, won their respective matches 3-0 to help India storm past Tunisia in the tie.
Earlier in the day, the Indian women’s team were handed a 3-0 win after Uganda gave them a walkover.
The Indian team comprising of Manika Batra, Yashaswini Ghorpade, Sutirtha Mukherjee, Diya Chitale, and Syndrela Das weren’t required to play any match.
The Indian men’s team will next take on Slovakia on Wednesday in their second group match, while the women will go up against Ukraine.
