In an exhilarating high-scoring thriller, the Rajasthan Royals clinched a decisive six-wicket victory over the Punjab Kings in Match 40 of the Indian Premier League 2026, held at Mullanpur on Tuesday, April 28. 

 

After being asked to bat first, PBKS set a challenging target, finishing their innings at a solid 222/4 in 20 overs. Priyansh Arya kicked things off with a fiery 29 off just 11 balls, while Prabhsimran Singh steadied the ship with a reliable 59.

 

Contributions from Cooper Connolly and captain Shreyas Iyer kept the runs flowing, but it was Marcus Stoinis who really turned up the heat at the end, smashing an impressive 62 not out off only 22 deliveries.

In reply, RR came out swinging. Yashasvi Jaiswal (51 off 27) and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (43 off 16) provided a blazing start, putting immediate pressure on the PBKS bowlers. Even though Yuzvendra Chahal took three wickets during the middle overs to give PBKS a glimmer of hope, RR maintained their grip on the chase throughout. 

 

Donovan Ferreira played a crucial role in sealing the deal with a calm unbeaten 52, while Shubham Dubey added a quickfire 31 not out, helping RR reach 228/4 in just 19.2 overs. This victory showcased Rajasthan's batting prowess, as they comfortably chased down a hefty total, highlighting their depth and explosive talent.
