The country’s biggest medical entrance examination NEET UG 2026 is now very close and lakhs of students are putting their hard work in preparing for it. But have you ever thought that along with your hard work, your dress can also play an important role on your exam day? Yes, many times students are fully prepared for studies, but a small mistake in dress code puts them in trouble at the examination centre. In such a situation, it is important that you understand these rules in advance so that there is no stress on the exam day and you can keep your full focus on the paper.

Avoid full sleeve clothes

According to NTA rules, the simpler and less designed the clothes are, the easier the entry.

What to wear: Wearing light colored and plain clothes is the best option. Wear a half sleeve shirt or T-shirt, so that there is no problem during the test.

What not to wear: Avoid wearing full sleeve clothes. Apart from this, do not wear clothes which have many pockets, big buttons, zip or heavy embroidery. In such clothes, the investigation can be lengthy and you can also be stopped.

Not shoes, slippers are the right option

Many students wear sports shoes for comfort or style, but this can cause trouble at the examination centre. Thick soled shoes, boots or high heels are completely prohibited. In such a situation, the safest option is to wear simple slippers or thin soled sandals. This will save your time and also make checking easier.

don’t wear jewelry

It is strictly prohibited to carry any kind of metal inside the examination centre. Girls, keep in mind that they should not go wearing earrings, necklace, ring, bracelet or nose pin. Boys should also avoid wearing chains or bracelets. Even large clutches or heavy hair accessories are removed. Therefore, reach the center as simple as possible and without any accessories.

Important things with admit card

It is mandatory to keep some important documents with you on the day of examination-

  • Admit Card: It should be a colored printout and should have your passport size photograph on it.
  • Additional Photograph: Carry one extra passport size photograph, which is required in the attendance sheet.
  • ID Proof: Only the original version of Aadhar Card, PAN Card or Voter ID will be valid. Photocopies will not be accepted.

Keep in mind that you do not need to carry a pen. A new black or blue ball pen will be provided by NTA in the examination hall. If you want to carry water, carry only transparent bottles.

Special instructions for religious attire

Clear rules have also been made for students who wear something special according to their religious tradition. If you wear Kada, Kirpan, Hijab or any other religious item, you will have to reach the examination center at least 2 hours before. With this, your examination will be done comfortably and without any hurry. If there is any doubt about any item during the security check, the security personnel may ask to keep it out. In such a situation, cooperation is necessary so that the examination process can run smoothly.

Do not carry extra luggage

There is no provision for keeping mobile phones, bags or other personal belongings at the examination centre. Therefore, it is important that you carry only essential things. Carrying unnecessary items can cause problems and can also distract you. It would be better if you leave the house light and prepared.
