1. Fiber-rich fruits and vegetables
The biggest cause of constipation is lack of fiber in the body. Apple, banana, papaya, carrot and green vegetables help in keeping the stomach clean. These improve intestinal movement and make bowel movements easier.
2. Isabgol
Isabgol is considered an old and effective home remedy for constipation. Taking it with lukewarm water or milk at night helps in clearing the stomach in the morning. It softens the stool by absorbing water in the intestines.
3. Adequate water and fluids
Drinking less water is also a major cause of constipation. By drinking adequate amount of water throughout the day, the digestive system works properly. Apart from this, coconut water, buttermilk and lemon water are also beneficial.
4. Whole grains and seeds
Foods like oats, oatmeal, chia seeds and flaxseeds are rich in fiber. These improve digestion and help in keeping the stomach clean for a long time.
Make changes in lifestyle also
Not only diet, but daily light exercise, eating on time and adequate sleep also play an important role in providing relief from constipation. Walking or doing yoga in the morning also strengthens the digestive system.
