Bosnian football has been plunged into mourning following the tragic death of Amir Dzihan, who collapsed and died on the pitch. Dzihan was representing second division outfit NK Bajer Velagici in a match against FK Vitez when he suddenly fell to the ground. Medical staff raced onto the pitch to assist him, but sadly their attempts at resuscitation proved futile.

The fixture was immediately abandoned as players, staff and supporters watched on in horror. In an even more heartbreaking twist, Dzihan was the son of Bajer's head coach, Enes Dzihan. FK Vitez released a brief statement regarding the tragedy, which read: "The match will not continue. Our thoughts and prayers are with the visiting player, his family and the NK Bajer club."

Bajer also issued their own devastating statement, breaking the tragic news to their supporters. They wrote: "Dear fans, it is with great sadness that we inform you that today at our club's match."

"Amir Dzihan had a serious accident, which he unfortunately did not survive. Amir is the son of our coach Enes Dzihan and we are all in shock. We ask for your understanding and support for our family."

The club also posted a heartfelt tribute to Dzihan the following day, writing, as translated from their social media page: "Amir Dzihan, a guy who spent his whole life in sports and for whom soccer was much more than sports, left us yesterday, unfortunately, too soon.

"Fate decreed that Amir would lose his life right in the match and that his father Enes Dzihan would lead him from the bench in his last match. Amir worked in Croatia and came home on weekends and made himself available to his NK Bajer 99.

"In a short time, he became a favourite among his teammates and will remain in the hearts of the players, fans and club management. The management of NK "Bajer 99" will visit the Dihan family today and will be with them in these difficult days.

"The players, management and fans are still in shock and can't believe what happened in a game that was supposed to be just one more in a series and will remain in the memory of all of us as the worst thing that happened in the history of the club.

"The funeral will be held tomorrow after the afternoon prayer, and transportation will be organised for all those who want to go to D. Vakuf. We pray to Allah to grant our Amir Paradise and his family patience."
