Patna. The process of building a new bridge on Punpun river located on Arwal-Jehanabad road in Bihar has started. Considering the condition of the old bridge which has been dilapidated for a long time, this step was considered very necessary. Now a new bridge will be constructed with modern technology parallel to the old bridge, which will make traffic safer and easier than before in the future.
New bridge will be built at a cost of Rs 18 crore
Under this project, a new bridge will be built at a cost of about Rs 18 crore. The responsibility of the construction work has been handed over to a private company, which has started work at the site. At present, boring work is going on to make pillars of the bridge and the aim is to complete all the piers before the onset of rains.
The condition of the old bridge is a matter of concern
The condition of the old RCC bridge built during the British period has now become quite weak. There are cracks in its pillars and the structure below has also been damaged at many places. For this reason, keeping security in mind, the administration has banned the movement of heavy vehicles. However, despite the rules, vehicles have often been seen breaking the barriers at night, which further increases the risk.
Changed routes for heavy vehicles
Due to the ban on the bridge, now heavy vehicles going from Aurangabad, Bhojpur and Arwal to Jehanabad have to travel a long distance. Where earlier the direct distance was about 35 kilometers, now an additional distance of 15 to 25 kilometers has to be covered through alternative routes.
