The UK is about to welcome back its biggest waterpark as the attraction is set to reopen just in time for the Bank Holidayweekend. Aqualand is making a comeback on May 2, and it's bringing a new addition with it that is apparently "not for the faint hearted".

A brand-new mega-slide soaring 39ft high will premiere at the waterpark, officially being "the UK's first tower of its kind". The X Tower, which is 12 metres (39 feet) tall, is a massive six-slide tower with dual lanes, perfect for racing. It is one of the two new attractions joining the waterpark this year.

A spokesperson for Cliff Lakes said: "We're taking Aqualand to a whole new level...

"Standing at a HUGE 12 metres tall X Tower is officially the UK's first tower of its kind.

"Six epic slides featuring dual racing lanes, high-speed drop slides with kicker exits and a sliding mat, built for adrenaline junkies aged 12 years or over.

"This is not for the faint-hearted. This is next level!

"Are you brave enough to take it on?"

Thrill-seekers will, however, have to wait later in the month to try out the ride as while the park is set to open May 2, the slide will be open on May 23, in time for the May half-term and second Bank Holiday weekend.

Visitors should also note that a £5 upgrade fee must be paid on a general admission ticket to ride the slide.

In addition to the X Tower, Aqualand will also welcome a 15 metre long and five metre high slide, called The Wibit Wave. It also features a double-wave perfect for swimmers.

Aqualand is located at Cliff Lakes in Tamworth, around 25 minutes outside Birmingham. The park features eight inflatable obstacle courses, which visitors can explore for up to 80 minutes.

Visitors must be six years or older and at least 1.10 metres tall. Children aged seven and under must be accompanied by an adult on the course.
