Prince William and Princess Kate compared to iconic royal couple as they mark milestone

Prince William and Princess Catherine have been compared to the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip on their 15th wedding anniversary. The couple tied the knot on this day in 2011, a very special day which saw William's beloved grandparents in attendance.

The late Queen died aged 96 in September 2022, whilst her husband passed away in April 2021 - and was just weeks shy of his 100th birthday. Speaking on behalf of Heart Bingo Online, former royal butler Grant Harrold has dubbed Catherine and William a "younger version" of the late royal couple.

Calling William and Catherine the "best of friends", he said: "Their relationship has developed so beautifully and they're the best of friends. I compare them to the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. They are a younger version of them.

"They work well together, they get on together, and they're a good team. That's what you need in a relationship and also as working royals, otherwise it wouldn't work. They support each other.

"It's also really nice to see that they can have a giggle and a laugh, which is very similar to what the Queen and Prince Philip would do. It's weirdly almost like history repeating itself.

"They're also very passionate about their privacy and family. It can be very difficult for them to have that privacy as royalty."

Much like William and Catherine, the late Queen often expressed pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Catherine and William became first-time parents following the birth of their eldest son, Prince George, in 2013.

They later went on to welcome their only daughter, Princess Charlotte, in 2015 and their third child, and second son, Prince Louis in 2018.

To mark their 15th wedding anniversary today, the couple have shared a new family photo taken in Cornwall earlier this month.
