Koppal: Lokayukta police have arrested an RTO office staff member while allegedly accepting a bribe for issuing a showroom trade licence in Koppal.
The accused has been identified as Ranjith, a Second Division Assistant (SDA) working at the Regional Transport Office in Koppal. He had allegedly demanded Rs 21,000 to grant the licence.
Complaint leads to trap
A complainant named Nayeem had approached the Lokayukta, stating that despite applying for a showroom licence three months ago, the process was being delayed and he was being asked to pay a bribe.
Based on the complaint, Lokayukta officials conducted a trap operation. Ranjith was caught red-handed while accepting the money from Nayeem.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of Lokayukta DySP Lokesh. The accused has been taken into custody and further legal action is being initiated.
According to sources, the complainant had applied for licences to open showrooms in Kushtagi, Karatagi, and Huligi areas.
