Paris, April 29:
Paris Saint-Germain delivered a stunning performance to defeat Bayern Munich 5-4 in a breathtaking first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final, in what has been described as one of the greatest matches in the tournament’s history.
The nine-goal encounter at the Parc des Princes set a record for the highest-scoring semi-final in Champions League history, with both sides producing relentless attacking football.
Bayern Munich struck first through Harry Kane, who converted a penalty to give the visitors an early lead. However, PSG responded quickly, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia equalising before João Neves put the hosts ahead.
The first half continued at a frenetic pace, with Ousmane Dembélé adding to the scoreline, ensuring PSG carried a narrow advantage into the break in a pulsating contest.
PSG Surge, Bayern Fight Back
The second half saw PSG take control, as Kvaratskhelia and Dembélé both completed their braces, helping the hosts surge into a commanding 5-2 lead.
However, Bayern Munich refused to back down. Goals from Dayot Upamecano and Luis Díaz in quick succession brought the German side back into the contest, reducing the deficit to a single goal and setting up a tense finish.
Despite Bayern’s late surge, PSG held firm to secure a narrow 5-4 victory, giving them a slender advantage heading into the second leg in Munich. The result leaves the tie finely poised, with both teams still in strong contention for a place in the final.
PSG manager Luis Enrique praised the intensity of the contest, calling it an “incredible game,” while Bayern remain confident of overturning the deficit on home soil.
With attacking brilliance on full display and the aggregate scoreline still close, the return leg promises another high-octane clash between two of Europe’s biggest clubs.
