The IPL 2026 season may have been very bad for Mumbai Indians, but this season is going well for some players of the team. One of them is the team's star opener Ryan Rickleton, who scored his first century in IPL. Rickleton also made a record with his first century. As soon as he got a chance in the team against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rickleton scored a century in just 44 balls. With this, he broke the 19-year-old record of fastest century in IPL for Mumbai.
This storm of Rickleton was seen in the 41st match of the 19th season on 29 April at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After losing two consecutive matches this season, Richlton returned to the playing-11 for this match as Quinton de Kock was out due to injury. Rickleton took full advantage of this and scored an explosive century, giving the team a great start.
Rickleton, along with Will Jacques, gave the team an explosive start of 93 runs. He completed his half-century in just 23 balls. Even after Jacques' dismissal, Rickleton's bat continued and he eventually scored his first century in the IPL. He did this feat in just 44 balls. With this, he became the batsman to score the fastest century in IPL for Mumbai. He broke the record made by Sanath Jayasuriya in 2008, who had achieved this feat in 45 balls. In the same season, Tilak Verma had also equaled it with a century in 45 balls.
Left-handed batsman Rickleton is the third Mumbai batsman to score a century this season. The interesting thing is that all three centuries for MI this year have been scored by left-handed batsmen. The first century was scored by Richlton's opening partner Quinton de Kock. His century came against Punjab Kings. After this, Tilak Verma scored a century against Gujarat Titans. Overall, Mumbai has scored centuries in 3 out of 4 consecutive matches.
