Riyan Parag, the Rajasthan Royals captain will be asked for an explanation by BCCI for being spotted vaping in between an IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings on Wednesday. The incident happened at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Mullanpur and it went viral over social media in a short span of time.
The video shows Parag using a vape device from inside the dressing room once he has been dismissed for 29 from 16 deliveries. Rajasthan Royals registered a comprehensive win on the day however, this controversy took center stage.
BCCI Seeks Explanation
BCCI has been made aware of the issue and it has also clarified that an explanation from the player will be sought after that the further course of action will be decided.
"We will be seeking an explanation from Riyan on this issue, as vaping is not allowed. Depending on his explanation, the IPL will take further course of action," a BCCI official was quoted by The Indian Express.

Controversy Overshadows RR Victory
The incident took place during the fixture that saw Rajasthan Royals chase a mammoth score of 223 laid by Punjab Kings, completing the chase in 19.2 overs ending on 228/4 as they inflicted a first defeat on PBKS. Donovan Ferreira and Shubham Dubey helped RR secure the win with crucial innings.
But, the consequence of RR getting past the total was not a headline, rather a clipping about vaping from inside a dressing room during an ongoing match stole the lime-light, raising concerns over activities happening during live games.
A struggling season has been dealt with more criticism for Riyan Parag, now 24. He has registered just 117 runs in 9 innings averaging under 15, with a high score of 29. His form with the bat itself has put him under pressure as he now faces further embarrassment.
This is not the first instance thatRajasthan Royalse are caught in off-field activities during a match. Earlier this season team manager Ravinder 'Romi' Bhinder had been reprimanded and fined Rs 1 lakh for using a cell-phone during a match by the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit after an investigation.
Parag has not been officially punished at the moment but this matter is on its course through IPL's disciplinary process. The final outcome will depend upon review of his response by the board.
