US Returns Antiquities To India : America has returned 657 ancient artefacts and cultural objects worth about US $ 14 million to India. US has returned 657 smuggled ancient artifacts. The collection includes a rare bronze statue of Avalokiteshvara from Chhattisgarh, a Buddha statue made of red sandstone and a dancing Ganesha statue from Madhya Pradesh. This is a major effort to combat trafficking of Indian cultural heritage.

According to reports, American officials also said that there is still a lot of work to be done for this Asian country to get back its stolen heritage. On Tuesday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg formally announced the return of these items. All these antiquities were recovered after a long investigation into various smuggling gangs. These gangs also include networks linked to notorious smuggler Subhash Kapoor and convicted smuggler Nancy Weiner.
These returned artefacts were handed over to India in a special event in the presence of Rajlakshmi Kadam, Envoy of the Indian Consulate in New York. The return highlights the ongoing long-term cooperation between US and Indian officials.
