Agatha Christie devotees simply cannot afford to overlook a brand new murder mystery series heading their way, reports the Mirror.
The Artist is a six-part series, which previously aired on American channel The Network in 2025, and is set to land on streaming platform MGM+, accessible to UK viewers as a channel on Prime Video.
The show joins a growing roster of acclaimed titles, including Netflix's Seven Dials Mystery and a BBC crime thriller.
A plot synopsis for the mini-series reads: "In the twilight of the Gilded Age an eccentric, failing tycoon, and his brilliant wife host an ensemble of the era's biggest celebrities including Thomas Edison, Edgar Degas, and Evelyn Nesbit. The gathering turns deadly."
The Artist boasts an impressive ensemble cast, featuring The Princess Bride and Homeland legend Mandy Patinkin as Norman Henry, Ozark and KAOS' Janet McTeer as Marian Henry, American Horror Story's Danny Huston as Edgar Dégas, iconic singer and actress Patti LuPone as Rosie Morsch, The Simpsons' Hank Azaria as Thomas Edison, and Star Trek's Zachary Quinto as Delphin Delmas.
Rounding out the cast are Clark Gregg as Harry Kendall Thaw, Katharine McPhee as Nora Bayes, Jill Hennessy as Nesbit Mother, Ever Anderson as Evelyn Nesbit, Ana Mulvoy Ten as Lilith, Katherine O'Sullivan as Gretchen, Anni Krueger as Ida, Elizabeth Lande as Laura Rockefeller, David Pittu as Marius, Aramis Merlin as Gunter, and Gemma McIlhenny as Celia.
The series has already garnered glowing praise from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. One person posted in their five-star review on the ratings aggregator: "A brilliant show that breaks the mold on traditional television [sic]."
Elsewhere on IMDb, another reviewer titled their 10/10 rating: "Stunning! Unflinching and deeply human."
They went on to say: "This show beautifully depicts the chaotic, often brutal interior of a creative life. The presence of each character is raw, unguarded, and unsentimental. What makes this show so powerful is its refusal to romanticize the act of creation."
They further noted: "There's something profoundly moving about watching performers of this caliber turn inward rather than outward. No grandstanding or vanity [sic]."
A further viewer wrote in their 8/10 review: "The Artist is real entertainment. A flight of fancy, fiction, and reality. The script and production are fabulous, the actors all on point, and it has the funniest, most offbeat soundtrack I've heard in ages."
The Artist will be airing on MGM+ via Prime Video on May 1
