Iran says U.S. must accept its demands or face united resistance, official warns

A deputy speaker in Iran’s parliament said the United States must accept the Islamic Republic’s demands, warning that otherwise the “Iranian nation” will stand against the enemy. The remarks add to a series of increasingly hardline messages from Tehran as tensions with Washington remain high.

The official’s comments come after other senior Iranian figures accused the United States of slowing diplomacy with what Tehran described as unreasonable demands and shifting positions. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recently said Washington’s approach had damaged progress in talks, while parliamentary and military officials have continued to stress unity and resistance.

Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has also been central to the recent messaging. In earlier remarks, he said Tehran would not accept negotiations under the “shadow of threat,” and accused the U.S. of trying to force surrender through pressure rather than genuine diplomacy.

The latest statement again frames the dispute as one of national unity and resistance. Iranian officials have repeatedly argued that they are prepared for all possible outcomes and have warned that the country will respond firmly to what it calls foreign pressure and aggression.

The comments come amid broader tensions over Iran’s nuclear file, sanctions, and regional security posture. Tehran has insisted that any agreement must respect its rights and sovereignty, while Washington has continued to demand limits on Iran’s nuclear and strategic capabilities.

For now, the message from Tehran is clear: Iran says it will not accept outside pressure on U.S. terms, and officials are presenting the standoff as one that could draw in the full weight of the Iranian state and public if needed.
