A pet shop in a UK town is set to shut after almost 100 years in business. Bungay Pet Stores in Bungay, Suffolk, has announced it will closeits doors at the end of next month.
The Warnes family ran the store for much of its 100-year tenure, until Karl and Tracy Jackson took over nine years ago. The couple are now retiring. Mrs Jackson, 65, told the East Anglian Daily Times: "This has not been an easy decision. Over the years, we have been incredibly fortunate to meet so many loyal, friendly and supportive customers. Many have become friends, and we are truly grateful for every visit, every conversation, and every wagging tail that has come through our doors." Her husband, 63, spoke about the celebrity visitors the store has had over the years - Princess Margaret reportedly once came in to buy a treat for her cat. Other visitors included broadcaster Janet Street Porter and actor Brian Hewlett.

Mr Jackson said: "We are proud to have played a part in continuing the long tradition of this shop, and to have served the Bungay community during our time here."
The couple said changing shopping habits, increased competition, and shifts in consumer needs all contributed to a retail environment very different to that of previous generations.
They also thanked the community for its loyal support, and their staff for their dedication, hard work and friendship over the years.
A closing-down sale will take place over the coming weeks, giving customers the chance to purchase discounted pet food, treats, toys, and accessories.
