In a one-day special session organized on women’s reservation in the UP Assembly session, Sirathu MLA Dr. Pallavi Patel said that before discussing women’s reservation, we have to understand that both the policy and intentions of the BJP government towards women and especially women coming from deprived communities are not right. On this issue, the unsolicited clarifications, condemnations being given from the Prime Minister to the Uttar Pradesh government towards the opposition parties and the unnecessary propaganda being done on the streets and the burning of suicide effigies are proving that there is a straw in the beard of the thief.

The bitter and true thing is that the BJP government does not want to give any reservation to women, hence it is pending by linking it with questions like delimitation and census. If their intentions were right then this BJP government would have taken forward the advance proceedings of the bill passed in 2023, we all saw that even after so much time has passed, no notification has been gazetted. Now, fearing the possibility of failure in vote multiplication in the coming days, the present BJP government is carrying out suicidal political propaganda.

Whereas the real question is women’s reservation tested on the criteria of social justice. Today, the women of the country as well as Uttar Pradesh are asking the present BJP government that why no steps have been taken to implement women’s reservation even after it is passed in the year 2023? Also, why concrete provisions were not made in this Women’s Reservation Bill for the participation of women coming from the majority deprived community of the country, this proves that the Bharatiya Janata Party is strongly anti-women. The BJP, which has made many desired laws in the country overnight and suddenly implemented many orders, is bluffing on women’s reservation, in reality the BJP does not want to give women their rights.
