stock market
There is important news for those investing in the Indian stock market. On Friday, May 1, the country's major stock exchanges National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain completely closed. This leave is being given on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. There will be no buying and selling of any kind in the stock market on this day. That means investors will not be able to make deals related to equity (shares), derivatives (futures and options) and Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB). This means that there will be no trading in the market for the whole day.
What will be the condition of MCX and NCDEX?
Talking about the commodity market, the morning session (9:00 am to 5:00 am) will remain closed in Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). But it is a matter of relief that the evening session (from 5:00 pm to 11:55 pm) will continue as normal. On the other hand, the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will remain closed for the entire day. That means there will be no trading in both morning and evening sessions in this exchange.
When will the market remain closed in 2026?
In total, about 9 more holidays are scheduled in the stock market in the year 2026. There will be two holidays in the month of May itself, first on 1st May (Maharashtra Day) and second on 28th May. After this, the market will be closed on 26th June due to Muharram. There will be no holidays in July and August, which means the markets will remain open continuously during these months. There will be one holiday each in September and December, while there will be two holidays each in October and November.
