Dehradun: In the cabinet meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami (Uttarakhand Cabinet Meeting 2026), many revolutionary decisions have been taken regarding the development of the state and the future of the youth. A total of 18 proposals were approved in this important meeting held at the Secretariat. This time, along with changing the standards of government jobs, the government has also opened its coffers regarding infrastructure and preparations for the Kumbh Mela.
Big change in Forest Department recruitment: Now degree is necessary
Dhami government has made a major amendment in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Forest Service Rules and changed the rules of Forest Inspector recruitment. Now, mere intermediate pass will not be enough for this post, rather it has been made mandatory for the candidate to be a graduate. Along with this, the government has also given relaxation in the age limit; The maximum age limit for Forest Inspector has now been increased to 35 years. The age for Forest Guard has been fixed at 18 to 25 years. Along with this, the way has also been cleared to fill the backlog posts for the disabled in the Public Works Department (PWD).
Preparation for Kumbh Mela and gift of new buses
To make the upcoming Kumbh Mela grand and smooth, the government has increased the financial powers of the officials. Now Kumbh Mela officials will be able to approve projects worth Rs 1 crore and Garhwal Commissioner will be able to approve projects worth Rs 5 crore themselves, so that files will not get stuck in the government. There is good news for the transport department too; The government is now going to buy 250 new buses. Taking advantage of the reduction in GST rates, the number of buses has been increased, which will provide relief to the passengers of the state.
New policy for madrassas and reforms in education
The government is preparing to bring an ordinance for ‘Minority Education Act’ regarding 452 madrassas of the state. Under this, madrassas from class 1 to 8 will now be able to get recognition at the district level. However, it will be mandatory for those madrassas which are providing education till 12th class to join the Uttarakhand Education Board. Apart from this, by expanding the scope of the Chief Minister Higher Education Research Incentive Scheme, it has also been implemented for the principals of 21 non-government colleges.
Emphasis on increasing contractors’ enjoyment and revenue
To encourage local contractors, the work limit for ‘D’ category contractors has been increased from Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.50 crore. At the same time, to increase the revenue of the state, the rate of mining royalty has been increased by Re 1 per quintal. Keeping in mind the environment and self-employment, a new policy has also been agreed to promote beekeeping in forest areas.
