Make statement earrings your hero accessory

Getting dressed for yet another wedding of the season? Don’t let the heavy jewellery weigh you down. Instead, let bold, shoulder-grazing and sculptural statement earrings become the centrepiece accessory. Why, you ask? Traditional as well as contemporary pieces are making bold appearances in bridal looks, ditching the neckpieces (in most cases), and we are absolutely up for it.
Experts say this shift reflects a broader move towards expressive, face-framing accessories rather than traditional, full bridal sets. It is driven by evolving bridal preferences, lighter wedding silhouettes, and the growing confidence of consumers in experimenting with bolder jewellery.

Hot picks this seasonWhile there are endless varieties to choose from, Suresh Krishnan, vice president – sales, PNG Jewellers, says, “There is a noticeable rise in shoulder-grazing earrings , sculptural silhouettes, and heritage-inspired chandbalis. Brides are opting for pieces with intricate filigree, polki, and meenakari detailing, while younger guests prefer sleek geometric forms with diamonds or coloured stones. Motifs inspired by peacocks, lotus, and temple architecture are also resurfacing, showcasing a strong blend of cultural nostalgia and contemporary elegance.”

Earrings add drama without the hassleWhen styled well, ear accents rarely need additional jewellery. Disha Shah, jewellery designer, founder, DiAi Designs, says, “Earrings have become a go-to for those who want to skip long and traditional necklaces or layer heavy jewellery. This season, brides as well as wedding guests are embracing long earpieces as the hero accessory.”

According to Nikhil Thampi, fashion designer, founder, Nikhil Thampi Label, “Statement earrings instantly add drama without over-styling. They frame the face, photograph beautifully, and bring a modern, sculptural edge that feels fresh. This season, people want impact with ease, and bold earrings deliver that effortlessly.”

While statement earrings can certainly stand alone, that does not mean they cannot be paired with other accessories. Akanksha Arora, CEO, Tribe Amrapali, explains, “When the outfit calls for it, earrings can be beautifully paired with a delicate neckpiece to create a balanced, layered look. It depends on the neckline, the embroidery, and the bride’s personal style.”

Let face shape, outfit & hair guide your earrings
Your earrings will only elevate the look when you take into consideration a few factors. To help you make the right choice, experts share a few tips.

Face shape:
Brides with round faces should opt for vertical, tapered silhouettes, while those with angular faces look good in softer curves and chandbalis. Those having oval and heart-shaped faces can effortlessly carry long earrings

Choose earrings that align with your neckline and height

Outfit & other accessories:
For heavily embroidered lehengas or saris, choose earrings that complement the outfit’s colour and craftsmanship without competing with it

If the outfit is ornate, opt for structured or linear earrings rather than heavily layered ones. Matching metal tones and motifs helps create harmony, ensuring the jewellery enhances rather than overwhelms the ensemble

Choose pieces you genuinely love and will wear multiple times. Pair with minimal supporting jewellery – a dainty mangalsutra, simple rings, or bracelets

If the earrings are richly crafted, pare down other accessories. Opt for lighter materials with dramatic visual volume to maintain comfort and impact

HMU:
Hairdo:

Sleek buns, soft waves pulled behind the ears, pulled-back braids, side-parted waves, or half-up styles help showcase the earpiece

Makeup:
Keep makeup balanced, especially around the eyes, to avoid visual clutter
