Peep Show star left 'paralysed' after stroke as he's rushed to hospital

Peep Show star Matt King, 58, took to Instagram to reveal he was rushed to hospital after a rare stroke on Sunday which left him paralysed. Sharing a picture of him lying in a hospital bed with a teddy next to him the star, who played Super Hans in the Channel 4 show, penned: "It's true. I had a rare stroke of the spinal cord on Sunday. I was initially paralysed but was rushed to The Royal Sussex and the staff have been amazing. Can walk again, a bit. My legs were jelly, man. It didn't feel f*****g brilliant. Thank you for all the love and kindness."

Prior to his message his Peep Show co-star Vera Graziadei, who played Elena on season 6 of the show in 2009, alluded he had a health issue when she asked fans to pray for him in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

"Peeples, let's send some prayers and love to our dear friend and bloody brilliant actor and human - Matt @thatmattkingfella who needs it now. Health issue so send your love and support to him!" she wrote.

The star was flooded with support from fans who wished him the best as he recovers. "The fact you had a stroke and still had the humour to joke about your legs being jelly says everything. You're an inspiration Matt. Get well soon," one commented on his post.

"That is not easy like a Sontag morgen! So sorry man, wishing you a speedy and optimal recovery. Absolute legend!" another added.

A third chimed in: "Oh mate, sorry to hear this. Hope you recover well. The secret ingredient is rest."

A fourth shared: "Oh no. Had a series of strokes with a big one 10th april 2016 - lost speech and whole right side for 6 months. But rehab and hated my job means every silver lining. Its been hard but I'm still here and as my fave character in peepshow, you can do it. Strokehans now. Get better soon, rest and sleep when u can."

A fifth penned: "Time to start the knitting again mate...Get well soon." Meanwhile a sixth quipped: "The secret ingredient is recovery! Get well soon mate!"

Matt's health setback comes just months before he is set to release his new book based on his Peep Show character. Moreish, an autobiography of Super Hans is set to hit shelves on August 27.

It tells Hans story in his own words and the blurb states: "From Croydon to the former Eastern Bloc, Super Hans lays it all out - bad trips, deep thoughts and absolute bangers. You know the name. You know the carnage. Now, for the first time ever, Super Hans tells his own story - no filter, no agenda, just 100% pure, distilled Hans."
