Stacey Dooley has addressed concern from fans after making the decision to work together again after they initially met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018. They both landed a position in a nationwide tour of 2:22 A Ghost Story after Stacey pitched the idea of her husband joining the cast to bosses, but people were skeptical about whether the collaboration would actually work. While they worked well together when they were both on the BBC dancing show, things have progressed in their lives and they now have their baby girl too.
However, Stacey has discussed how the experience has been going after people asked the pair: "How are you two not going to kill each other?" And while she admitted it has been quite "nonstop" for them because they've also had their daughter come along with them, it's not been as bad as people warned.
Speaking on Amy Jackson's What's The Tea with Amy podcast, she said: "Nonstop, different locations every week but actually, I can't sit here and say there haven't been times where he's not driven me nuts, but on the whole, we had a lovely time, it's been a really sort of pleasant [time]."
She added: "We did Covid together and obviously we met on Strictly and so that was really intense." Stacey also admitted that she did have a "soft spot" for Kevin as soon as they met, saying: "He's such a gent, Kev, he's such a goodie. The good thing about Kev, one of the good things, is he's very sort of nonchalant and a bit aloof in the best way. He's not easily impressed."
Stacey noted that things had become intense on Strictly but then they "got together properly" in the new year and have been together ever since.
Stacey and Kevin announced the birth of their baby in January 2023, four years after they officially started dating. They had announced their pregnancy in the August prior, writing at the time: "Gaaaaaaang... We are having a baby! So bloody delighted. Kev, you're magic, I love youuuu. (Was becoming impossible to hide and if one more person asks me if I've had my t*ts done in LA I'm gonna scream)."
They then announced the arrival of their little girl by posting a photo of a card addressed to "Minnie's parents" on Instagram as she wrote: "Our daughter is here. My little masterpiece! I'm COMPLETELY OBSESSED. Love you Minnie. Love you Kev x."
