Mini Cylinder Price: In today’s times, gas cylinders and everyday essentials are becoming increasingly expensive. Amidst this trend, the price of the 5-kg mini cylinder has seen an upward revision, a development likely to impact small-scale workers and the labor class.

Mini Cylinder Price Hike: From gas cylinders to minor daily necessities, the cost of living is steadily rising, directly impacting the pockets of the middle class and small business owners. Consequently, yet another change in LPG cylinder prices has further heightened public anxiety. This impact is particularly evident in the case of the 5-kg mini cylinder.

According to a report by the news agency ANI, prices for commercial LPG cylinders and the 5-kg mini cylinders were hiked today—Friday. However, there has been no change in the prices of domestic LPG, petrol, or diesel, offering some relief to general consumers.

The Price Hike Will Hit Laborers the Hardest

It is worth noting that the price hike for the 5-kg mini cylinder will inflict the heaviest burden on laborers—specifically, migrant workers who have relocated to other states for work. Since these workers typically do not possess standard LPG connections, their daily sustenance relies entirely on these 5-kg cylinders. Now, the increased cost will inevitably strain their already tight budgets.

The 5-kg ‘Free Trade LPG’ cylinders—also known as ‘Chhotu’ or mini cylinders—have seen a price hike of approximately ₹261.
In Delhi, the new price for this cylinder is reported to be around ₹339.
A similar upward trend in prices has been observed in Mumbai as well.

Commercial LPG Cylinders Also Become More Expensive

The price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been hiked by ₹993.
In Delhi, its price has now risen to approximately ₹3,071.50.
In Mumbai, the price has reached nearly ₹3,024. The price hike will have a direct impact on hotels, restaurants, bakeries, and other businesses that rely on commercial LPG for their daily operations.

Why did prices rise?

According to the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), these cylinders account for a very small fraction—approximately 1 percent—of the total LPG consumption, and their prices are revised regularly in accordance with international market rates.

Prices of Other Fuels Remain Stable

On a reassuring note, there has been no change in the price of the standard 14.2 kg LPG cylinders.
Petrol and diesel prices also remain unchanged.
The prices of approximately 80 percent of petroleum products remain unaltered.
The IOC stated that, in order to provide relief to the general public, the prices of key fuels have been kept stable, while adjustments have been made only to certain industrial and low-consumption fuels.
