New Delhi . The country’s leading telecom company Voda Idea has got a big relief from the Central Government. The central government has given relief of more than Rs 23,000 crore to the company in terms of Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues. Not only this, the government has also given huge relief to the company in terms of period for repayment of dues. The company can repay this dues from 2032 to 2041. This means that the obligation of the company to collect and pay a large amount in lump sum for the next few years is also over.

According to the information given by Voda Idea in its exchange filing, the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) has fixed the company’s adjusted gross revenue dues till December 2025 at Rs 64,046 crore. In its earlier estimate, the outstanding figure was Rs 87,695 crore. Voda Idea has got a relief of Rs 23,649 crore from this change made by the Telecommunication Department on the instructions of the Supreme Court.

It is believed that this relief received from the Central Government can also have a positive impact on the movement of the company’s shares. Today there is a holiday in the stock market on the occasion of Maharashtra Day, but the movement of the company’s shares may increase when the market opens on Monday. Before this, on the last trading day i.e. Thursday, Voda Idea shares had fallen by 0.68 percent and closed at Rs 10.22 on BSE.

According to the information given in the exchange filing, Voda Idea has been given relief in the period to repay AGR dues. Now the obligation of Voda Idea to repay this dues immediately has been removed. According to the plan given by the Telecommunication Department to repay the dues, now the company will have to pay at least Rs 100 crore of dues every year for the next four years from the financial year 2031-32.

After this, the remaining dues will be divided into six annual installments of equal amount to be paid from FY 2035-36 to FY 2040-41. This means that for the first five years the company will not be obliged to raise even a single penny as dues, whereas for the next five years the company will be obliged to raise a minimum of Rs 100 crore. Only after ten years of relief, Voda Idea will have to arrange a huge amount to repay the dues.

Let us tell you that this plan prepared by the Telecommunication Department on the instructions of the Supreme Court to repay the Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues has provided a big relief to Voda Idea, which was already facing financial problems. In this plan, the amount of dues has not only reduced by about 26 percent, the company has also got a longer time to repay the dues. Before this happens, Vodafone Idea, already burdened with huge debt, will face comparatively less pressure on cash flow in the coming times.
