YouTube PiP Feature: YouTube has now begun making this fantastic feature available to everyone—a feature that was previously exclusive to Premium subscribers. This feature is YouTube's Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, which allows you to watch videos in the background. It is a feature that YouTube Premium subscribers have been enjoying for quite some time, but now, everyone will be able to use it. It was first made available for free to everyone in the US, and it is now being rolled out to all users worldwide on both Android and iOS platforms.
The company has announced that the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode will soon be available for free to all users across the globe. Until now, this feature was reserved exclusively for Premium users, enabling them to watch any video in the background. Apps like Netflix also offer a PiP mode; however, since Netflix is an entirely subscription-based platform, a direct comparison might not be entirely appropriate.
With the help of PiP, you can continue watching the video you are currently viewing on YouTube in a small, floating player even after you exit the app. This allows you to keep a video playing in the background while you continue to use your phone for other tasks. To activate PiP mode, simply press the Home button to exit the app.
How much does a Premium subscription cost?
It is encouraging to see the company making a previously exclusive Premium feature available to users who do not have a subscription. This feature is set to become available to all YouTube users worldwide over the coming months. Therefore, if you wish to utilize the PiP feature, you will no longer require a YouTube subscription. However, if you wish to avoid advertisements and download videos for offline viewing, you can purchase a YouTube Premium subscription; in India, monthly plans start at ₹149. If you have not yet received this feature, it simply means that the company is rolling it out gradually in phases.
