Share Market Today: The Indian stock market will remain closed on Friday due to Maharashtra Day. During this period, there will be no buying and selling of shares on both the main stock exchanges – Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE). Due to holiday, trading in all three equity, derivatives and SLB segments will remain closed. Now the trading markets will open in the next session i.e. Monday, May 4.
Commodity market will remain partially closed. Commodity market trading will remain closed in the morning session from 9 am to 5 pm, while the market will be open for trading in the evening session from 5 pm to 11:55 pm. Besides, the country’s leading agricultural commodity market, National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Ltd (NCDEX), will remain closed for both morning and evening sessions.
International markets will remain closed due to Labor Day
Apart from Maharashtra Day, today is also International Labor Day, due to which almost all the stock markets of Asia are closed, which includes the names of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Mauritius, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Apart from this, the markets of France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland and other countries in Europe will also remain closed today due to International Labor Day.
Market closed on red mark
Talking about the previous day’s trading, the Indian stock market closed in the red on Thursday due to global instability and rise in crude oil prices. During this period, Sensex was down by 582.86 points or 0.75 percent at 76,913.50 and Nifty was at 23,997.55 with a weakness of 180.10 points or 0.74 percent.
Weakness in largecap-smallcap and midcap
Along with largecap, weakness was also seen in smallcap and midcap. The Nifty Midcap 100 index closed at 59,784.85, down 592.05 points or 0.98 per cent, and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index closed at 18,007.15, up 86 points or 0.48 per cent.
During this period, Sun Pharma, Infosys, Adani Ports, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki and TCS were the gainers in the Sensex pack. Eternal, HUL, Tata Steel, L&T, Trent, UltraTech Cement, M&M, SBI, Axis Bank, BEL, ICICI Bank, Titan, IndiGo, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank and Power Grid were among the losers.
