One of the most iconic and entertaining characters played by Anil Kapoor is undoubtedly Majnu Bhai from ‘Welcome’, a role that continues to be loved and quoted by fans even today. The quirky gangster, known for his eccentric behaviour and comic timing, has achieved cult status over the years. Recently, the actor revealed that this memorable character actually drew inspiration from one of his earlier roles.
The revelation came after a fan praised his performance in ‘ Awaargi ’, directed by Mahesh Bhatt . Responding to the post, Anil Kapoor wrote, “Awaargi may not have been the most noticeable film I’ve done, but this character never left me. He returned years later as the inspiration behind Majnu Bhai, only with a lighter twist…The shoulder tilt, the mannerisms, the madness, first in Mahesh Bhatt’s world, later in Anees.”
