Beyond Paradise star Barbara Flynn has opened up about her future as Anne Lloyd in the BBC series. The current series will come to an end tonight, and fans will finally find out Humphrey Goodman's (Kris Marshall) fate.

Humphrey was ordered by his boss to let go of a member of the Shipton Abbott police force to save money, and it looks like the detective has sacrificed himself.

As the series comes to an end, Barbara Flynn, who has played Martha's (Sally Bretton) mum since the beginning, opened up to Express.co.uk about what it was like returning to play Anne and whether she will be back for another series.

When speaking about returning to her role, the actress said, "It's like putting on a lovely glove or putting on a nice shoe. It's always exciting because they have a lovely habit of employing young writers.

"Sometimes they are teething things that can be difficult, but actually it's a wonderful thing to do. There's always something to look forward, always something new.

"Their limitless ideas and the way things come along, which sometimes we can contribute to and sometimes not, and it's just lovely to go back."

Addressing her hopes of going back for a fifth series, Barbara continued, "I mean, it is an extraordinary thing. It's become a kind of habitual thing, because this will be the fifth year if we do go back.

"You know, never say whatever, but we are down there in Cornwall in July. That's, that's the fifth summer till almost December, where we go down there till the beginning of December, pretty much.

"It's a long time, and I mean, we all come and go, Kris not so much. But it's delightful.

It's such an intelligent, gentle, but not sort of mushy programme with wonderful puzzles that aren't just fluffy at all, some are actually quite difficult and moving."

In a recent interview, Kris Marshall also opened up about his future as the lead detective, confirming to Chris Evans that filming for series five was beginning very soon.

The radio host noted, "We're in season four now, 5,6,7 (seasons), that's probably where it's gonna be and where it's gonna go, and you'll all be happy at the end of maybe six series. Do you think they could really stir it up in season five?"

Confirming his future on the show, Kris added, "Well, we're about to start shooting season five."

Beyond Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
