There is a big relief news for the passengers regarding the new Ganga Expressway built in Uttar Pradesh. UP CM Yogi Adityanath has announced that no toll tax will be collected for the first 15 days after the start of commercial operations on the expressway.
What is the purpose of toll free for 15 days?
The objective of this decision is to make the travel easy and convenient along with letting the people experience the new expressway. On the instructions of the government, Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority has given clear orders to the companies associated with the project, IRB Infrastructure Developers and Adani Infrastructure, to completely stop toll collection for 15 days. Besides, the officials have also been directed that there should be no negligence in the operation and maintenance of the expressway during this period and all safety standards should be strictly followed.
How many tolls on Ganga Expressway?
A total of two toll plazas have been built on the Ganga Expressway. However, the journey will be completely free for the first 15 days, but after that passengers will have to pay toll fee. According to estimates, the toll for the entire route could be around Rs 1,500 to Rs 1,800. This rate may vary according to distance and type of vehicle.
An important information to the expressway is that the Fastag annual pass will not be applicable here. That means even regular passengers will have to pay toll fee every time. The project has been developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, adopting the DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer) framework.
Who has control of the expressway?
Under this arrangement, IRB Infrastructure and Adani Infrastructure have been given the right to collect toll for the next 27 years. After this the control of the expressway will come to the government. Ganga Expressway is being counted among the major infrastructure projects of the state, which will not only reduce travel time but will also boost economic activities.
