ChamarajanagaSP clarifiesra: A rumour about human sacrifice spread in Sagade village of Chamarajanagara taluk after a man was seen digging a pit in his farmland. Police detained the man, identified as Mada Shetty, and questioned him in connection with the incident.
According to information, the crop in Mada Shetty’s land had failed due to lack of proper rainfall. Believing that black magic might be the reason, he consulted an astrologer. The astrologer reportedly advised him to remove the alleged effect on a full moon day.
Acting on this, Mada Shetty began digging a pit near a hut in his farmland, thinking that an object might have been buried there. Meanwhile, rumours spread that he was preparing for a human sacrifice.
Police reached the spot after receiving information and took him into custody for questioning.
SP clarifies
District Superintendent of Police Mutturaju told to Udayavani that the rumour about human sacrifice was false. He stated that the man was digging the pit based on the belief that black magic had been performed on his land.
Police said they have investigated the matter from all angles and confirmed that the rumours were not true.
Mada Shetty also told police that he had no reason to harm anyone and alleged that some people had spread false rumours against him.
