New Delhi: Openers KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka starred with the bat to help Delhi Capitals (DC) beatRajasthan Royals (RR) by seven wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Thursday, May 01. Rahul and Nissanka slammed half-centuries apiece to help DC make short work of the 226-run target at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Delhi Capitals returned to winning ways by ending their three-match losing streak in the tournament. Rahul slammed a brilliant 75-run knock off 40 balls, while Nissanka scored 62 off 33 balls to help their team earn a commanding victory. The duo shared a 110-run opening stand to get DC off to a flyer and set up the stage for a successful run chase.

Chasing a tricky target of 226 runs after their stunning collapse against RCB in their last game, DC got off to a flyer courtesy of their openers. Rahul and Nissanka dominated the proceedings against the likes of Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger to help DC race to 70/0 in the Powerplay.

They continued their strong run after the Powerplay, taking the RR bowlers to the cleaners. Rahul’s 40-ball 75 was laced with five sixes and six fours, while Nissanka smashed three sixes and six fours en route to his 62 off 33 balls. After Nissanka’s departure in the 10th over, Rahul joined hands with Nitish Rana (33) to help the hosts continue the momentum.

Rana looked in a hurry to finish the run chase and took risks, while Rahul continued playing the anchor’s role on the other hand. The duo added 61 runs for the second wicket before getting dismissed in quick succession. RR had a chance to crawl back in the contest after the duo’s dismissal, but Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma combined to share an unbeaten 49-run stand for the fourth wicket and take DC home comfortably.

Stubbs remained not out on 18 off 11 balls, while Ashutosh scored 25 off 15 as DC chased down the target with five balls to spare.
