Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh is very special for the people of Hindu religion. According to religious beliefs, Lord Vishnu had incarnated twice in Hardoi itself, once in the form of Narasimha and second time in the form of Vaman. Through these two incarnations, Lord Vishnu had shown people the path to move from unrighteousness to the path of righteousness and also broke the ego of arrogant kings. According to religious stories, the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu was Narasimha. The most special thing in this incarnation is that half of Narasimha ji’s body was of a man and the other half of his body was of a lion. For this reason he was named Narasimha.
Lord Vishnu had taken Vaman incarnation in the Sandi area of Hardoi, where at that time there was King Bali, who had become extremely arrogant about his powers and wealth. Vaman ji had incarnated to teach them a lesson. Now the question arises that what is the story of the incarnation of Narasimha and Vamana ji?
What is the story behind the incarnation of Narasimha ji?
According to mythology, there was a king named Hiranyakashyap in Hardoi district, who did not believe in God and religion. Apart from this, he also stopped people in his kingdom from worshiping and taking the name of God. Hiranyakashyap used to harass the people of his kingdom a lot, due to which the people of Hardoi remained unhappy. Hiranyakashipu was extremely proud of his powers. There is a special secret behind this.
In ancient times, Hiranyakashyap had performed penance to please Lord Brahma. Pleased with this, Lord Brahma gave him a boon. According to this boon, neither any human nor any animal could kill Hiranyakashipu. It was because of this boon that Hiranyakashipu became arrogant. He started considering himself as God and gave up the worship of Gods and Goddesses.
Hiranyakashyap’s son was Prahlad, who was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. He used to worship Lord Vishnu every day. Seeing this, Hiranyakashipu became angry and tried to kill his son Prahlad. After this, Narasimha ji appeared to protect his devotee and killed Hiranyakashyap.
Mythological story of Vaman ji’s incarnation
The fifth incarnation of Vishnu was Vaman. According to mythological stories, the Sandi area of Hardoi was ruled by King Bali, who acquired immense wealth and power with the blessings of God through worship. By eliminating the influence of Indra, he had gained control over the earth, sky and heaven.
After this, the power of the gods was snatched away and the influence of the demons increased. King Bali had become proud of his wealth and power. To break this pride, Vaman ji asked for three paces of land from Bali. As soon as Bali resolved to donate, Vamana Dev increased his size and assumed a gigantic form. Fearing this, Bali apologized.
