Bengaluru: A 34-year-old woman died by suicide in Sanjeevini Nagar under the Kodigehalli police station limits, allegedly following a dispute with her live-in partner.
The deceased has been identified as Agat Baithiangum, a native of Meghalaya and a resident of Kodigehalli. She had been living with a 26-year-old man, Nawaz Sharif, who is from Manipur, in a rented house for the past three years.
According to police, the couple had frequent arguments, reportedly due to an age gap of eight years and suspicion issues. Agat was working as a housekeeping staff member at Manyata Tech Park.
On Wednesday night, an argument broke out after Agat suspected Nawaz Sharif of speaking to another woman when he was on a phone call with his mother. Following the dispute, Nawaz Sharif left the house.
Police said that during his absence, Agat allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan.
Kodigehalli police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. The body was sent for post-mortem and later handed over to her family members.
