Guwahati, May 2: To foster impactful discussions on climate change and sustainability among the youth, a state-wide "Online Drawing and Essay Competition" has been launched to celebrate World Environment Day 2026.

This initiative aims to transcend traditional awareness efforts by motivating students to creatively engage with environmental topics.

Open to participants from Class 1 through to the final year of college, the competition is divided into three categories for both drawing and essay submissions, ensuring inclusivity for all age groups.

This year's competition is distinguished by its carefully selected themes that merge creativity with real-world significance.

Younger participants will have the opportunity to share their thoughts through themes like “If I Were a Tree” and “My Environment Superhero,” fostering an early emotional bond with nature.

For older students, the emphasis shifts to urgent global and local issues, including the environmental impact of fast fashion and examining Assam’s role as a leader in climate action.

In the essay segment, participants will also contemplate practical solutions such as living a plastic-free day, writing letters to policymakers about balancing development with environmental conservation, and suggesting actionable plans to tackle climate challenges in the region.

This initiative aims to provide a platform for artistic and written expression, nurturing not only awareness but also a profound sense of responsibility among young individuals.

Entries can be submitted online via dedicated Google Forms available on the homepage of the publication’s website.

The deadline for submissions is May 17, 2026, and selected works will be showcased and acknowledged by the publication.

Students, parents, and educational institutions are encouraged to actively engage in and support this initiative, enhancing the conversation on environmental sustainability throughout the state.
