Princess Charlotte may be just 10-years-old, but already she is making a massive difference to the public perception of the Royal Family. While she is not a working royal at this age, and instead is being brought up like any other young child by going to school and enjoying a fairly ordinary way of life, she does sometimes step out in the royal spotlight.
This tends to be at big royal gatherings, such as Christmas at Sandringham and Trooping the Colour. However, Charlotte is also in the royal spotlight when her proud parents Prince William and Princess Catherine share family photographs on social media.
This includes a photograph they shared this week to mark their 15th wedding anniversary, which showed William, Catherine, Princess Charlotte, Prince George and Prince Louis laying together on the grass in Cornwall.
The photograph has been praised by many on social media for how natural it is, with the family all dressed casually and laying barefoot, laughing and smiling together.
However, there was one particular detail noted about Princess Charlotte which a brand and culture expert believes makes the Royal Family appear modern.
This is the fact that the young princess, who turns 11 on Saturday, is wearing nail varnish - not something many royals tend to do.
Speaking exclusively to The Daily Express, brand and culture expert Nick Ede said: "The new photo from William and Catherine is a glorious image of the family together relaxed, enjoying the sunshine and looking polished but not too perfect. With Charlotte's varnished nails and Catherine's favourite Breton top, it shows a modern family enjoying time together."
Charlotte's nail varnish was picked up on and praised by fans too, who were quick to compliment William and Catherine's only daughter who has been seen wearing nail varnish before.
One person wrote on X: "I love that they let her express herself like this and allow her to be a kid."
Another royal fan said: "Our little princess is growing into a beautiful young lady."
Someone else commented: "Charlotte has light blue nail polish on. I'm glad they decided to throw that old rule out."
