New Delhi: At least three people were killed and many more sustained injuries after a monster truck crashed into a row of spectators in the city of Popayan, Colombia, on Monday, May 4.
The monster truck was performing several stunts, but after landing from a jump, the driver lost control, and the vehicle moved forward, ramming bystanders before hitting a pole.
More than 40 bystanders were hit by the monster truck, and a child was pronounced dead. Two others later died in the hospital, and now at least 38 people are admitted to the hospital.
No identity has been revealed yet by the local media. Popayan’s mayor, Juan Carlos Munoz Bravo, said that he has made all resources available to support the victims and their families.
The authorities have been working closely with the hospitals and emergency services to ensure dignified care for the public during this difficult time.
“I’ve given clear instructions for a thorough investigation.. This should never have happened, and the facts will be established with full responsibility and transparency,” he said.
