Heartbeat star Tricia Penrose has revealed she has wed the "love of her life" in an announcement that arrives four years following her divorce from her first husband, to whom she was married for nearly two decades. Tricia walked down the aisle at Briars Hall Country Club in Lancashire to marry her new husband, Chris Hargreaves, on Saturday (2 May). The 56-year-old subsequently shared photographs from the beautiful ceremony on X, with the caption: "Married the love of my life yesterday."
In the photographs, Tricia, who portrayed Gina Bellamy on Heartbeat from 1993 to 2010, wore a fitted ballgown, featuring a lace bodice and a tulle A-line skirt. She held hands with Chris, who wore a light green suit. In the comments beneath the post, fans expressed their support, as one wrote: "Did you say yes in a heartbeat?"
Another said: "You look amazing, congratulations to both of you." A third added: "Congratulations to you both! Wishing you many happy years together." Tricia's new marriage arrives four years after her marriage to her first husband, ITV star Mark Simpkin. Following 18 years of marriage, Tricia and Mark, who share two sons, Jake, 22, and Freddy, 17, together, separated in 2021.
At the time, a source told The Sun: "They decided to go their separate ways after realising they had grown apart and it would be better for everyone that they ended the marriage."
While Tricia was appearing on Heartbeat, Mark fronted several television programmes, amongst them ITV's I Want That House and a property segment on This Morning. He also took on the role of Craig Brennan in Coronation Street. The couple first crossed paths in 2001 at the National Television Awards, and two years later exchanged vows at a ceremony held at Adlington Hall in Cheshire. They renewed their vows in 2013, with Tricia expressing their desire to "celebrate" a decade of marriage, reports the Mirror.
In the same year the pair announced their separation, Tricia went Instagram official with new partner Chris, who later got down on one knee during a holiday in Tenerife in July 2025.
Alongside her prominent role on Heartbeat, Tricia also appeared in Emmerdale in 1991 as Louise, and featured in two episodes of Coronation Street between 1991 and 1992.
She subsequently entered the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2013, reaching the semi-final before being evicted in a double elimination alongside Frankie Dettori.
Her most celebrated role, however, remained on Heartbeat, where she portrayed landlady Gina. Tricia became a cornerstone of the show and its longest-serving female cast member, featuring in excess of 300 episodes.
Gina shared a turbulent on-off romance with Phil Bellamy, portrayed by Mark Jordon, whom she wed in series 16. The character made her debut in series two, arriving memorably in a striking red Isetta Bubble Car, which is now on permanent display at the Beaulieu Motor Museum. The show's concluding episode ended with the birth of Gina and Phil's son.
