New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Nicholas Pooran returned among the runs in his side’s clash against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2026 on Monday, May 04. Pooran smashed a blistering half-century off just 15 balls to record the second-fastest fifty by an LSG batter in the IPL. Pooran missed out on breaking his own record by a whisker.
Pooran, who was struggling for runs this season, slammed a quickfire 63 off just 21 balls to help LSG get off to a flying start against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede. Pooran’s cracking 63-run knock was laced with as many as eight sixes and a solitary four as he lit up the venue with his explosive batting.
Asked to bat first in the game, LSG lost opener, Josh Inglis, cheaply on 13 off 5 in the Powerplay. Pooran arrived at no.3 and joined hands with Mitchell Marsh to help the visitors make the most of the Powerplay. The duo shared a brilliant 94-run stand for the second wicket off just 34 deliveries to provide impetus to LSG’s innings.
Pooran went bonkers with the bat, taking the MI bowlers to the cleaners to race to his half-century off just 16 balls. The former West Indies batter himself holds the record of the fastest fifty for LSG in the IPL, which came off 15 balls. Pooran also holds the record for the third and fourth fastest fifty for LSG in the IPL.
