New Delhi: Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton starred with the bat to help the Mumbai Indians (MI) beat the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets and return to winning ways in the IPL 2026 on Monday, May 04. Rohit slammed a brilliant 84-run knock on his comeback from injury, while Ricketon hammered an 83-run knock to help MI chase down a tricky target of 229 runs with 8 balls to spare at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Mumbai Indians snapped a three-match losing streak to bag their third win in the IPL 2026. Asked to bat first, LSG rode on Nicholas Pooran’s quickfire 21-ball 63 and opener Mitchell Marsh’s 44 off 25 balls to post a strong total of 228 runs on the board. However, the total didn’t prove enough for the hosts, who enjoyed a cake walk in the run chase, thanks to stunning knocks from Rohit and Rickelton.
Despite the victory, the Mumbai Indians remain at the bottom half of the table and are all but out of the race for the playoffs. The five-time champions have six points after ten matches so far this season and are in the ninth spot on the points table. LSG’s woeful run continued in the tournament as they slipped to their seventh loss in the IPL 2026 to remain at the bottom of the points table.
