Minimum temperatures early on Thursday are widely shown at around 2C to 5C across Scotland and northern England, with slightly milder values of 4C to 7C further south.

The positioning of the low to the north-west of the UK allows colder air to wrap around the system, maintaining unsettled and showery conditions.

This setup supports repeated bands of precipitation moving across similar areas rather than a single front passing through.
