What should be offered to Shivalinga on the first day of Big Mangal?

• red sandalwood and red flowers

Hanuman ji is considered to be the 11th Rudravatar of Lord Shiva. Although Lord Shiva loves white things, but on the days of Hanuman ji i.e. on big MarsApplying red sandalwood paste and offering red roses or hibiscus flowers on Shivalinga is considered very auspicious. It reduces the negative effects of Mars.

• Offer water and Akshat from copper pot

Fill Ganga water in a copper vessel, add some Akshat to it and say ‘Om Namah Shivay’ while chanting offer to Shivalinga.

• Bilva patra and gram flour laddus

Offer Bilva Patra to Mahadev and also offer gram flour laddus, beloved by Hanuman ji. Later distributing this food as Prasad brings happiness and peace in the house.

Rules of first big mangal puja

• After bathing, wear red or yellow colored clothes.
• Keep in mind that Hanuman ji loves Tulsi, but never offer Tulsi Dal on Shivling, because it is considered taboo.
• Sitting in front of Shivling and reciting Hanuman Chalisa and finally performing Aarti of Lord Shiva and Hanuman is very fruitful.
• After puja, apologize for all the mistakes.
