Met Gala 2026 saw a major return on May 4 as Beyoncé stepped onto the red carpet for the first time in a decade, drawing immediate attention across social media and fashion circles. As she arrived at the event, it appeared that she nailed this year's "Fashion Is Art" dress code as she marked the beginning of a new style era.
The 44-year-old appeared in one of the evening’s most talked-about looks, wearing a crystal-covered “naked” gown designed by Olivier Rousteing.
The outfit featured a skeleton motif extending to the hands and was paired with a large blue and white feathered cape, a crystal-embellished headpiece, glittering earrings and long curls cascading down her back. Beyoncé said she chose to collaborate with Rousteing because of their long-standing creative partnership, noting they had worked together on several iconic looks. "I've done so many iconic looks with him, so it's really about representing him," she said.

The singer attended the event with her husband, Jay-Z, and their 14-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. Speaking during Vogue’s livestream, Beyoncé hailed her daughter and said, "It feels surreal because my daughter's here. She looks so beautiful. It's incredible to be able to share with her; I think she looks so incredible," according to PEOPLE.
In 2026, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and its Costume Institute are set to launch the spring 2026 exhibition "Costume Art," which also serves as the official theme of this year’s Met Gala 2026. Curated by Andrew Bolton, "Costume Art" examines the relationship between clothing and the body beneath them.
The exhibition is structured around a series of thematic body types, spanning from the naked body to the pregnant body and the aging body. Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour are serving as co-chairs alongside Beyoncé at this year’s gala, Vogue confirmed in December.
