Mangaluru/Udupi: After a brief break, coastal Karnataka is likely to experience rain accompanied by thunder from Wednesday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD has forecast that light rain may occur at isolated places in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Tuesday. From Wednesday onwards and continuing till the weekend, the coastal region is expected to receive moderate rainfall, while interior parts of southern Karnataka may experience light to moderate showers. The department has also warned of the possibility of strong winds and lightning activity during this period. Northern interior Karnataka is also likely to receive thunderstorm activity along with rain.
On Monday, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts witnessed hot and humid weather conditions. Although most coastal areas experienced cloudy skies in the morning, no rainfall was recorded anywhere in the region. Meanwhile, light rain was reported in parts of Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts.
In Mangaluru, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34°C, which is 0.3°C below normal. The minimum temperature stood at 26.1°C, which was 0.8°C above the usual average.
