Kolkata. After the big victory of BJP in the West Bengal Assembly elections, there has been an increase in excitement in the politics of the state. Now all eyes are on the BJP Chief Minister face and the date of the swearing-in ceremony. Meanwhile, State BJP President Samik Bhattacharya has given a big statement on this. He said that the swearing-in ceremony of the first Chief Minister of BJP in the state will be held on May 9.
BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya also praised the migrant labourers. He said that despite the difficult circumstances, many people traveled at their own expense and took part in the voting. Saluting such voters, he said that people from places like Toronto, Dallas, Silicon Valley, Copenhagen, Germany and UK also came to cast their votes.
He further said that the aim of his party is not just to change the government or the Chief Minister, but to bring about a change in the entire political environment of the state, which according to him has been under social pressure for a long time. He talked about re-establishing balance and diversity in the society.
Referring to the model of ‘double engine government’, Bhattacharya said that the party’s manifesto has been prepared jointly at the central and state levels, in which the Prime Minister and the Home Minister have also played a role. He expressed confidence that all the promises made to the public will be fulfilled.
Talking about the results of the assembly elections, counting of votes took place on May 4 after voting on 294 seats in the state. Trinamool Congress had to face a big defeat in the results. TMC got 80 seats, whereas in the last elections it had won 215 seats. On the other hand, BJP performed better and captured 206 seats, whereas last time it had got 77 seats.
The election was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, voting took place on 152 seats on April 23, while in the second phase, voting took place on 142 seats on April 29. Record voting was recorded in both the phases, with 93.19 percent voting in the first phase and 92.67 percent voting in the second phase. The total voting percentage was more than 92.93 percent, which is said to be a new record so far in the country.
