Sports Sports: The IPL 2026 tournament has now reached a crucial juncture, where the biggest question is in which city the final match will be played. According to the initial plan, the final was to be held in Bengaluru, but now it is likely to be shifted.
According to sources, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken the recent MLA IPL ticket controversy seriously. After this controversy, the board has adopted a strict stance and reconsideration of the final venue has been started. It is being told that for this reason, discussions are going on to shift the final from Bengaluru to some other city.
BCCI may soon announce the official venue of IPL 2026 playoffs and finals, but at present there is uncertainty regarding the final decision. The possibility of dividing the playoff matches between Punjab and Karnataka is also being considered. However, the situation regarding the final is not clear yet.
Sources say that generally the IPL final is held at the home ground of the team which is the previous champion. But this time the ongoing political and administrative issues in Bengaluru, especially the ticket controversy involving MLAs, have complicated the situation. For this reason, BCCI is currently looking for a safe and controversy-free place.
A source associated with the board said that the final decision on the venue of IPL 2026 matches will be taken soon. He said that the playoffs can be divided between Punjab and Karnataka, but the final decision regarding the final is still pending.
According to the source, “Usually the final is held in the city of the defending champion team, but in the current situation, some hurdles are emerging in Bengaluru. If this matter is not resolved soon, the final can be shifted to some other city.”
The discussion regarding this change has intensified among the fans also. Many people believe that if the final is held in a new city then the preparations for the event and the attendance of spectators may be affected.
The biggest challenge for BCCI now is to balance both the prestige and smooth conduct of the tournament. The picture is expected to be completely clear with the official announcement regarding the venue of IPL 2026 in the coming days.
