New Delhi: As the buzz around the MET Gala 2026 continues, it’s time to dive into the details about the prestigious film festival, Cannes 2026, set to take place in France’s French Riviera from May 12 to May 23. Just like every year, several A-listers of Indian cinema will walk the red carpet, with a few making their debut.
Celebs expected in Cannes 2026
According to a Hindustan Times report, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will return to the prestigious film festival. Besides her, Alia Bhatt will mark her second outing on the red carpet after her successful debut last year. Actress Tara Sutaria is set to make her debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2026, ahead of the release of her upcoming film Toxic. Apart from them, Karan Johar, Mouni Roy, and Pooja Batra are also expected to attend the festival.
Marking first appearance, actor-singer Ammy Virk will be attending the Cannes Film Festival this year with his film, Chardikala. He will be accompanied by Roopi Gill. Last year, Diljit Dosanjh made his Cannes debut.
On the other hand, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar will represent the official delegation from India as the newly appointed director of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Marathi cinema will also be a key part of the film festival. Actors Ashok Saraf, Nivedita Saraf, actress Prajakta Mali, and producer Kedar Joshi are expected to attend Cannes 2026. According to a press release, they plan to appear in traditional Marathi attire, presenting their regional identity.
Gujarati cinema will also mark its presence in the Cannes Film Festival through actor-producer Mansi Parekh and producer Parthiv Gohil. Apart from these, Malayalam filmmaker Chidambaram, best known for Manjummel Boys, will be taking his film Balan: The Boy to Cannes this year.
