Bengaluru Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking and Burglary Rings

Bengaluru, May 5: On Tuesday, Bengaluru police apprehended six individuals, including two operatives from other states and four locals, for their alleged involvement in the illegal narcotics trade in the Yeshwanthpur and Nandini Layout regions.


The arrests followed a series of raids conducted by the police based on reliable intelligence received from informants, occurring at different times within the jurisdictions of Yeshwanthpur and Nandini Layout police stations.


Charges have been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as part of the operations.


Authorities reported that the suspects were sourcing prohibited substances like MDMA and hydro ganja at lower prices from unidentified suppliers, both local and inter-state, and selling them at inflated prices, primarily targeting college students and the general public for profit.


During the operations, law enforcement seized approximately 8 kg 58 grams of MDMA and 5 kg 700 grams of hydro ganja from the suspects. Additionally, four mobile phones used for drug transactions and a vehicle were confiscated.


The estimated total value of the seized drugs is around Rs 10.05 crore, with a market value projected at Rs 20.10 crore, highlighting the extensive nature of this illegal activity.


Police are actively working to identify and capture the unknown suppliers who allegedly provided the narcotics to the arrested individuals. The investigation is ongoing.


All six suspects have been presented in court on various dates and are currently in judicial custody.


This operation was conducted under the oversight of Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Division) B.S. Nemagouda, IPS, and led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Yeshwanthpur Sub-Division) Mary Shylaja, along with their respective teams.


Bengaluru Police Solve Major Burglary Case

In a separate incident, the Bengaluru East Division Police arrested three individuals, including one from another state, in connection with a house burglary reported at Indiranagar Police Station, recovering stolen goods valued at approximately Rs 1.15 crore.


The police have successfully resolved 18 cases linked to this investigation.


The case was initiated on December 25, 2024, when a resident of B.M. Kaval reported a break-in at his home while his family was away in Kerala, resulting in the theft of gold jewelry and cash.


Following the investigation, a suspect was detained on March 22, who admitted to the crime and disclosed involvement in several burglaries throughout the city with two accomplices. The other suspects were later arrested in Makali and Chickpet.


Based on their confessions, police recovered 855 grams of gold jewelry and cash. These arrests have led to the resolution of 18 burglary cases across various police jurisdictions in Bengaluru.


Mobile Phone Recovery Operation

In another successful operation, police in Bengaluru's North East Division, spanning 11 police station jurisdictions, recovered 692 mobile phones of various brands, valued at Rs 1.75 crore, during investigations into stolen or lost mobile phone cases.
