New Delhi: The Bajaj Avenger lineup has seen loads of changes over the years, making it a little hard to really follow it. Bajaj Auto have now removed the Avenger 160 Street from its website and is now bringing the Avenger 220 Street, effectively signalling the end of the 160 platform in the Avenger line.
The Avenger 220 Street will use the same engine as the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise. The 220 cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine makes 19 hp and 17.6 Nm of torque, mated with a 5-speed gearbox. In comparison, the now-discontinued Avenger 160 Street comes with a 160.4 cc single-cylinder engine making 15 hp and 13.7 Nm of torque.
What we know about the Bajaj Avenger 220 Street
Bajaj has also updated its website to include the Avengr 220 Street, but the pricing hasn’t been revealed yet. Beyond that, the bike mostly looks unchanged from the model that has been discontinued. It comes in two colours, red and black and with mostly blacked-out components and alloy wheels.
Suspension duties will be handled by a conventional telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers, with braking being managed by a front disc and rear drum setup with single-channel ABS, much like the 220 Cruise. It is expected that the Avenger 220 Street will sit below 220 Cruise, which is at present priced at Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bajaj has been busy lately, updating the Chetak and even giving Pulsar NS400Z a smaller 349.13cc engine.
