The ISSF World Cup Shotgun commenced today at the Asanov Shooting Club in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where Indian skeet shooters were unable to secure a place in the finals for both men's and women's events. Among the Indian competitors, Olympians Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Raiza Dhillon achieved the highest scores.
Men's Skeet Performance
Mairaj Ahmad Khan began the second day in 26th position after scoring 71 out of 75 on the first day. He managed scores of 23 and 25 in his final two series, concluding the qualification round in 18th place with a total of 119 points. Bhavtegh Singh Gill, also aiming for ranking points, finished closely behind Mairaj with a score of 119 (24, 24, 23, 24, 24), placing him in 19th position, as reported by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).
Anantjeet Singh Naruka, another Olympian, started his fourth series with a flawless 25 but ended up with a total score of 117, placing him 38th overall.
National Champion Gurjoat Singh Khangura finished in 54th place with a score of 115 after shooting 22 and 23 in his last two series. Abhay Singh Sekhon, competing for ranking points, scored 23 and 20 in his final two series, totaling 113 points and finishing in 71st place.
Women's Skeet Results
In the women's competition, Ganemat Sekhon, who was just outside the top eight after day one, scored 22 and 20 in her last two series, dropping to 33rd place with a total of 112 points. Raiza Dhillon performed the best among Indian shooters, finishing 17th with a score of 115 (22, 23, 24, 23, 23).
Parinaaz Dhaliwal ended just above Ganemat in 32nd place with a score of 112 after shooting 24 and 22 in her final series. Meanwhile, Vanshika Tiwari and Rashmmi Rathore, also competing for ranking points, finished in 29th and 47th places with scores of 112 and 102, respectively.
